OUR MISSION
The Mission of The Traveling Sea is to create awareness about the marine environment through education and outreach. No matter where you live, Colorado, Iowa, California, or Florida, the ocean influences your weather, your food, and your quality of life.  And likewise, your actions and choices influence the health of the ocean and its inhabitants.  Let’s all take part in protecting it.

“You have to love it before you are moved to save it.”

-Dr.Sylvia Earle, Undersea Explorer & Marine Biologist

Meet your O'FISH'al Instructor, Hilary Penner

Thanks to a wonderful 5th grade teacher, Hilary Penner has been passionate about the ocean since she was 10 years old.  At fifteen she was SCUBA certified and has since logged over 500 dives and counting, in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.  Her marine excursions have taken her from counting and identifying fish in the Caribbean islands to surveying dolphins, aiding beached whales, and diving with Jean- Michel Cousteau.  Hilary has worked on the beautiful beaches of South Florida conducting sea turtle research.  Hilary has her Masters in Environmental Education from Florida Atlantic University and has taught marine biology to both kids and adults.
